This was partly down to the breathtaking scenery of the mountains, the beauty of lakeside Pokhara and the bustling excitement of Kathmandu, but mostly down to the quality of service provided by the operator who made the task of trekking for 11 days a really comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable experience. I was also happy to see that the company organised... I particularly enjoyed the train journey from Beijing to Lhasa. There was nothing on my trip that I didn't enjoy so it's hard to choose 1 thing I enjoyed most.
The most memorable part has to have been rafting the G4 rapids on the Bhote Koshi with thunder and lightning, rain bouncing off the water and 1.5cm hailstones falling from the sky, still all in 27 degrees heat, wow amazing! My husband, my 11-year-old son and I, booked our trek with this operator per your instructions July 27th. The Full Moon Festival and Shamanism trek was amazing. They answered our emails each day, when we arrived we were met at the airport by Nima Lama, who was... Seeing the sun rise behind Everest at the top of Kalapathar. I would recommend going to Gokyo as well as Kalapathar as it's much quieter with very few of the big groups going to Everest Base Camp. The whole experience will live with us forever and it is almost impossible to single out separate elements.
The guides know the families who run the Tea Houses where we stayed ,and on many occasions we were greeted as old friends ! Prepare for some hardships such as living conditions and monotonous or strage foods. Yes, i woudl like to think there were benefits to locals people, particulalry in the school. There is so much I could say about our personal growth and the incredible views that I could write a book. Also, because my guide was flexible, we managed to avoid the groups quite a lot of the time even on the EBC route. Overall the people were fantastic, so friendly, helpful and humorous and our guide was simply outstanding.
Also by being in a small group the impact on the environment and in the villages we stayed was not as significant as if we'd been in a larger group. The scenic flight in the Himalaya's was a highlight.
