Gridview rowupdating oldvalues empty
Net Grid View control with simple Data Set or Data Table, and also explains the methods like Insert, Edit, Update and Delete function in the Grid View control.
You can see most of the articles and tutorials in many websites teach you the way to bind a Grid View control to the database with some Data Source controls such as SQLData Source, Object Data Source, Access Data Source and even XMLDatasource.
A friend asked me to help him out on this and frankly it has me completely stumped as well.
I have a Grid View control and use old style manual binding with a Data Source property and invoke the Data Bind() method.
After you've created a layout with a data control of your choice and eventually bound them to some datasource, you almost always want to get that data back out of them(and why wouldn't you, its your data).
One thing you'll learn about developing webpages is that its like petting a porcupine (yikes).
Enter the database details as per your setup and click on OK.
So that means when you bind to some raw collection and hook up to the Data Source property then call databind, if you try to handle the delete or update events these dictionaries are going to be empty.
There can be several approaches taken for validating data. For our example we are going to use Customers table of Northwind database. Open its smart tag and choose "Configure Data Source" option to start Configure Data Source wizard.
On the first step of the wizard click on "New Connection" button to open a dialog as shown in Figure 1.
By default when the Grid View controls goes in edit mode, it displays Text Boxes for entering values.
You can not attach validation controls directly to these Text Boxes.
